NIGHTHAWKS

 

NIGHTHAWKS is a rug design inspired by the painting, ‘Nighthawks’ (1942) by Edward Hopper. The painting was analyzed in various ways - through understanding color composition, lighting choices, and overall mood.

A tangible deconstruction of the Nighthawks painting with grouping based on color.


The deconstruction was then scanned and filled in using large blocks of color in Photoshop to analyze the color palette and color adjacenices.


3D Design Explorations

The 3D explorations were used to take similar colors from the painting and play with them to explore design ideas for the 2D design explorations.

The 2D explorations were inspired by the 3D explorations and then further developed to create a final design for the rug.

2D and 3D Design Explorations were used to realize the final design. This rug is designed for residential use.
